The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) achieved remarkable success at the 50th International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva, winning another record-breaking 34 awards. These included 7 Gold Medals with Congratulations of the Jury, 8 Gold Medals, 11 Silver Medals and 7 Bronze Medals. Among the 33 innovations, one also received the Thailand Award for the Best International Invention & Innovation, a special prize from the Thailand Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This demonstrates the University’s outstanding performance in research and innovation on the global stage.

This invention is an AI-driven Automatic Retinal Image Analysis (ARIA) which detects schizophrenia risk with over 90% accuracy via retinal analysis in promoting self-awareness and enabling early intervention, and aiding risk monitoring and remission extension for schizophrenia patients.

The International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva is the largest global exhibition devoted exclusively to inventions. All entries are evaluated by an international jury of 135 specialists. This year’s exhibition featured over 1,000 inventions from 38 countries and regions.
