Start-up’s Guide: Business Formation & Financial Management

CUHK’s Office of Research and Knowledge Transfer Services (ORKTS) and Bank of China Hong Kong (BoC HK) co-organized the event- Start-up’s Guide: Business Formation & Financial Management on Nov 21, 2023 (Tue).

In this session, Mr. Kevin WOO (Senior Associate, INCE & CO) shared his hands-on experience in opening a start-up in Shanghai together with his in-depth legal knowledge to the audience. Kevin highlighted that the founder/co-founder shall make deliberate choices in selecting the legal entity, distributing ownership and complying with laws to establish a solid foundation and differentiate the start-up in a competitive landscape.

Ms. Nancy YANG [Business Development Manager, Bank of China (Hong Kong) Limited] provided the overall picture of key financing requirements before opening a corporate bank account in Hong Kong. Nancy emphasized that Bank of China (Hong Kong) Limited, as the sole Clearing Bank for RMB business in Hong Kong, shall be considered as the leading local service provider to assist SMEs to accelerate/ manage their cross-border business in user friendly way. Considering the common pain points for entrepreneurs, Nancy also gave some tips on how to look for the best structured financing solution(s) under the service provision of BoC.
