On 15 Sep 2023, CUHK PI Centre and Center for Entrepreneurship (CfE) co-hosted the CUHK Student Start-up Showcase, featuring 10 selected start-up teams (5 from CUHK PI Centre and 5 from CfE mentee teams) to pitch their brilliant business ideas to a panel of seasoned entrepreneurs, investors, and mentors from CfE. This event aims to celebrate CUHK innovation and entrepreneurship, showcasing the remarkable strides they've on an incredible venture journey.

Prof. Benny Zee (Director, Office of Research and Knowledge Transfer Services, CUHK) remarked that “The University puts great emphasis on cultivating young researchers in innovation and entrepreneurship. The concerted effort of Center for Entrepreneurship (CfE) and CUHK PI Centre would empower the vibrant CUHK start-up ecosystem for producing more innovation and impactful young entrepreneurs.  Through this demo day pitch, I hope this would lay a spiritual foundation for our students to become excellent entrepreneurs and encourage them to share their success stories within our community.”

Prof. Kevin Au (Director, Center for Entrepreneurship, CUHK) highlighted “I am more than happy to see a lot of progress among the teams. Some teams that are not from the mentorship program have already advanced. There are many startup awards and incubation programs in Hong Kong while few of them focus on deep-tech ventures. We would like to explore new ways to spot more of them and facilitate their success. We are delighted to announce that deep-tech lab, the new incubation program will be launched in Late Sep to enhance the commercialization of science for making an impact on business and society.
