The signature event – SmartHK held by Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and Guangdong Provincial Department of Commerce was held at Shangri-La Hotel, Guangzhou on 24 May, 2023.

This flagship event featuring an exhibition, start-up pitching sessions and on-site business matchmaking sessions which aims to accelerate the collaboration and exchange among Hong Kong and Guangdong government departments, organisations, chambers of commerce and trade associations.

As one of the main supporting exhibitors, the CUHK and its start-up companies displayed the fruitful products of research and innovation by CUHK people on the GBA stage and the success of CUHK’s knowledge transfer on translating research and innovation into tangible benefits and outcomes for the societal impact.

In his opening remarks of the start-up pitching sessions, Prof. Benny Zee (Director of ORKTS, CEO and founder of Health View Bioanalytic Ltd) said “The development of the GBA is a key strategic development for the country reform and development in the new era. CUHK would be aligning the efforts with the nation’s GBA development strategy while deepening CUHK collaboration in areas of innovation and technology to accelerate the transfer of CUHK research outputs across borders.”
