“Wonder Women in Science – Inspiring and Empowering the Next Generation" is one of the pre-Forum events to the inaugural Hong Kong Laureate Forum.  The first of the new series of the "Prelude to the Inaugural Hong Kong Laureate Forum" was successfully held on 26 July. The event gathered eight renowned local and international female scientists and researchers as speakers and guest hosts to share with us in hybrid setting about their experience in the pursuit of science. In this event, our CUHK professors (Prof Siew Ng and Prof Hei man Chow) were invited for the seminar sharing and round-table dialogue session. Through the seminar and round-table dialogue, participating female scientists shared their views on challenges and opportunities for women in science and technology, contribution of female researchers to the advancement of science as well as their own experience to manage, balance, and flourish in both career and personal life, etc. By sharing these successful stories, this event hope to inspire and prepare young women to embark on the journey of scientific research.

The Hong Kong Laureate Forum (the Forum) aspires to be a world-class academic exchange event to connect the current and next generations of leaders in scientific pursuit, as well as to promote understanding and interests of the young generation in Hong Kong and around the world in various disciplines in science and technology. The Forum aims to inspire young scientists from around the world through participation in a week-long programme comprising world-class intellectual seminars, dialogues, workshops, poster sessions, etc. and provide ample opportunities for exchanges between the Shaw Laureates and the young scientists. The Forum will also be an international platform to encourage cross-cultural dialogue.
