OriGene DNA Testing Company Limited is formed in 2020 by Prof. SHAW P.C. who is currently the Deputy Director, Institute of Chinese Medicine, CUHK. With Professor Shaw's over thirty years of expertise and experience in herbal DNA identification, he has filled a gap in the current market for identification and testing technologies, developing and promoting services for the identification of health and traditional Chinese medicine products using DNA barcode technology. OriGene not only provides conventional DNA verification services but also offers customized DNA verification services to meet the needs of different customers. We have successfully identified various species of food, animals, plants, and traditional Chinese herbs for numerous businesses, government agencies, and media, including challenging items such as Japanese short-legged pearl rice, sea cucumbers kidney, and "passion fruit" (alligator), all verified by our company's technical team with the professor's wealth of experience. In 2024, our company partnered with GHCC to launch Halal certification services. GHCC is a certification body recognized by JAKIM HALAL, and OriGene uses DNA identification methods to ensure that applicants' products meet the Halal requirements.
